Chaparral Street Construction Expected to Begin in Two Weeks - KiiiTV3.com South Texas, Corpus Christi, Coastal Bend

In a couple of weeks, a new construction project on Chaparral Street downtown is expected to begin. The project will take about 10 months to complete.

City staffers presented a time table at a special public meeting Monday night.

The two-block improvement project, which was approved by voters during the 2008 bond election, will turn the stretch of Chaparral Street from William to Schatzell into a two-way road. Underground utilities will be replaced and sidewalks will be widened as part of the construction.

The project should be complete by early next September.
