TAMUK Students Survey Kingsville's Historical District
KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -
Some college students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville are doing their part to document history.
Students are documenting all the buildings and houses in Kingsville's historical district. As part of the survey, the students photograph the buildings and homes, take down their addresses and then find out more information about the homes from the appraisal district.
The students also document the condition and historic value of the structures.
"We document things like the design of the house, the layouts of the house, the architectural features of the house," said Stefan Schoy, a TAMUK junior and history major. "And then we later examine what year it was built, and we decide how historically significant some of these buildings are."
Once all of the information is compiled, the students will turn that information into the Texas Historical Commission.
