Miller Beats Rival West Oso in Tournament Play

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The "marquee match-up" of the Fudruckers/Caller Times Basketball Tournament was seriously one-sided as the Miller Bucs knocked off rival West Oso 67-46 in the first round of play.

The Bucs won the first game between the two since Miller moved back up to Class 4A, ending the series' brief two year run as a district showdown.

Miller controlled the early going, jumping out to a 7-0 lead. But West Oso cut the lead to just three right before the half at 25-22 courtesy of a 9-2 run. The Bucs then went on a run of their own to take a 34-22 lead heading into the break.

The 3rd quarter was all Miller, as the Bucs capped off a solid run with a Billy Guzman buzzer beater.

Miller advances to the second round of the winners' bracket to face the King Mustangs at 10:30 am Friday.
