Police Seek Suspect in Chaparral Street Assault

Police are on the lookout for a suspect that assaulted a man early Saturday morning in the downtown area. The whole attack was caught on surveillance tape.

In the footage, you can see the victim talking on his cell phone. He bumps into a man as they walk near the intersection of Starr and North Chaparral streets. The men then exchange words.

That is when the man in a black t-shirt and white ball cap takes a swing at the victim, hitting him twice in the face before the victim hits the sidewalk and is knocked unconscious.

The victim was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
