Refugio Dominated by East Bernard in Second Half in Qtrs. Loss

Posted: Updated:

SAN MARCOS, TX (Kiii Sports) - It's usually the Refugio Bobcats that make the halftime adjustments and dominate after the break.

The top-ranked Bobcats had those tables turned on them Friday as #4 East Bernard took Refugio to task in the second half, outscoring Head Coach Jason Herring's team 41-0 in the final 24 minutes on the way to a 54-23 win.

The Brahmas snapped Refugio's 27-game winning streak dating back to last season. It was the first time Refugio had allowed 50+ points in a game since 1945.

East Bernard's Ty Slanina went off in the third quarter, scoring three straight times and shifting all the momentum to the Brahmas. Slanina is the grandson of former Refugio coach George Harris.
