Thousands of your neighbors made online contributions to 30 area non-profit groups, knowing that their donations would be matched dollar for dollar.
It was a huge charitable event that took place Nov. 13, called the Day of Giving, and the end result was over $872,000 raised in one day.
On Wednesday, people representing those charities gathered at the Del Mar College Economic Development Center for the check presentation.
"This is a great day, and a wonderful time to do it, when these organizations struggle to help the folks that they are serving in here," said Dr. Robert Furgason, incoming president of the Coastal Bend Community Foundation. "It's a real boost."
The $872,000 raised set a new record for the Day of Giving campaign.
