Even though Connecticut is a long way from home, parents here in the Coastal Bend obviously empathize with the families who are suffering during this tragedy.
"There is really no words to describe everything that went on," said Ventura Flores, a local parent. "As a parent, I wish that nothing like that ever happens to anybody down here."
Many parents in fear of what happened Friday rushed to pick up their kids from school. Some understandably just wanted to have their kids with them; but for the most part, parents feel pretty safe with their kids on campus, and were pretty content that the security measures in place at schools are adequate.
"It's just scary now," parent Paula Rocha said. "Now I got grandkids coming, and it's a scary thought to think that they are in school and things like this can happen."
"People are getting crazier and crazier, and it scares me to know what the world is going to be like when my children have children," said another concerned parent.
