The latest multi-million dollar renovations to the airfield in Goliad were unveiled Monday.
The Navy officially welcomed the nearly $15 million upgrades to the outlying field in Goliad; upgrades needed since student pilots will now be training on T-6's, which need a lot more space to train on, such as a bigger runway.
"We upgraded runways, resurfaced the runways, airfield lighting," said Captain Dave Edgecomb, commanding officer at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. "Built this new fire station and weather equipment to give them the safest, most effective environment for their training."
Student pilots with the Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Navy will train out of this field.
