Second Alice High School Student Arrested for Terroristic Tweet
ALICE (Kiii News) -
For the second time in a week, an Alice High School student has been arrested for making terrorist threats.
Rony Chavarria, 17, was taken into custody Thursday morning for a threatening message he posted on Twitter, saying he would take out his "piece" and blast anyone wanting to shoot up his school.
Police say the teen admitted to posting the message, but that it was not a direct threat. Still, the 17-year old was arrested and is facing a Class B misdemeanor.
"During the investigation of the first one, people became more vigilant looking at things," said Lt. Tony Aguilar of the Alice Police Department. "Came across this one, caused a reaction. People got concerned and reported it and, of course, with any report of that nature, we have to respond and look into it."
Just last week, Alice police arrested 18-year old Oscar Resendez, Jr., who is a quarterback for the football team. Police said Resendez tweeted a threat of shooting and chaos that was going to occur.
Resendez was charged with a felony terroristic threat.
