Storm winds damage apartments displacing 24 families

High winds tore off rooftops at American Village Apartments in Vidor Christmas Day around noon.

The complex is in the 400 block of South Denver Street.

A spokesperson for Orange County E.S.D. #1 tells 12 News 24 families were displaced because of the damage. The American Red Cross was called to assist.

Property managers tell 12 News some tenants were moved to undamaged apartment units. Others were moved to a sister complex in Groves and the rest are being sheltered by the Red Cross.

There are no reports of injuries.
