Christmas Tree Recycling Events Scheduled for January

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Christmas is over, and you may be wondering what you should do with your Christmas tree. We have a couple of free Christmas tree recycling events to inform you about.

There will be an opportunity to recycle your old Christmas tree at eight convenient locations.

The first of these recycling events will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 5. Drop off locations for that date include Wal-Mart stores located at Calallen, South Staples and Greenwood.

The second recycling event takes place one week later, on Jan. 12. Locations include the Wal-Mart on Saratoga and the one on Flour Bluff Drive, as well as at Flour Bluff High School and the Padre Island Property Owners Association located on Fortuna Bay Drive.

Flocked trees and those with fake snow are not accepted; and remember to remove all Christmas lights and decorations.

Those who are not participating in this effort may set out trees during their regularly scheduled brush collection days.
