Arson suspected in Beaumont fire

A spokesperson for Beaumont Fire-Rescue says a house fire Sunday morning appears to have been intentionally set.

Just after 1 a.m. firefighters responded to a blaze at a house located on Hartel St. in south Beaumont. When they arrived they found a house heavily involved with fire.

Firefighters were able to control the flames within 15 minutes, but were on the scene until after 3 a.m. working to put out "hot spots." The fire caused heavy damage to the house.

The house was vacant. No injuries have been reported.

Anyone with information about the fire can give information to investigators anonymously by calling Beaumont Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS (8477.)
