KIII-TV, Green-N-Go Cabs, Yellow Cab and Andrews Distributing Company have teamed up again for the fifth annual New Year's Eve Free Ride Home Program, getting people home safely on Dec. 31, 2012.
The highly successful program consists of providing a free taxi ride home on New Year's Eve from 9 p.m.-3 a.m. to anyone who feels their consumption of alcohol could impair their ability to operate a motor vehicle. The service is provided with no questions asked, except for providing a home address.
Those utilizing the service will be taken home only, not to another bar or party. Green-N-Go Cabs and Yellow Cab will be providing the free rides simply by calling 361-299-9999. A total of 35 cabs will be made available to provide the service this year.
On New Year's Eve 2011, there were 226 cab rides provided, removing hundreds of potentially unsafe drivers from the streets. Once again this year we will be providing local law enforcement with a priority phone number for their use to access the service.
