Police Investigate Accident as Case of Aggravated Assault

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Police are investigating an accident that happened Tuesday afternoon, which they believe was actually an aggravated assault.

The crash happened on the eastbound side of Old Brownsville Road at around 3:30 p.m.

Police said the driver of a black Honda and the occupants of a green van actually got into a verbal dispute at a gas station on Brownlee and Agnes. The green van took off chasing the black Honda, eventually clipping the vehicle. That sent the Honda off the road and caused the van to rollover.

One of those in the van was ejected in the process. That person, along with another occupant of the van, were taken to the hospital with serious injures.

"Because of the intentional contact, this is going to be worked as an aggravated assault," said Lt. Abbott of the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Once the two men in the green van are released from the hospital, police expect to charge them with aggravated assault.
