Police Apprehend Suspect of Prosperity Bank Robbery

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

There were some tense moments in the early morning hours on Wednesday as an armed man wearing a disguise held up the Prosperity Bank at Violet and Leopard.

The disguise did not work too well, because after the robbery, the holdup man took his wig and beard off. Someone noticed what he was doing and got the license plate number of the car he had sped away in.

About an hour later, police brought Glen Sympson back to the bank to be identified by the man who saw him. They later confirmed that Sympson was the man they were looking for, and charged him with aggravated robbery.

Sympson was wearing a wig and a fake beard, and had a plastic bag with him for tellers to put the cash in. Once he got his money, he took off on foot and got into a car a few hundred feet away at a nearby Long John Silvers.

"Whenever a weapon is displayed, of course that raises everyone's anxiety, and certainly don't want to provoke someone who has already come to that level," said Senior Officer Kirk Stowers of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "If they're going to present any kind of weapon, you don't want to provoke any kind of use of that weapon."

Police said that they were able to find Sympson thanks to the witness who got the license plate number of the getaway car. The car registration sent them straight to his home, where he was arrested.
