Crews Begin Work on Chaparral Street Bond Project

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Work has finally begun on the Chaparral Street bond project in the downtown area.

Work crews had the two-block section of Chaparral, from William to Schatzel, blocked off on Thursday. It will be that way for the next few days as crews take a look at the underground water and sewer system.

Then, they will begin replacing those lines beginning at the Schatzel intersection. The total overhaul of the rest of the section will follow.

The $4 million bond project is expected to be completed in 10 months. Full-blown construction is set to start within two months.
