A head-on collision that happened on FM 70 and County Road 73A near Bishop claimed the life of three people at around 11 a.m. Friday.
It was hard to tell what kind of vehicles were involved in the accident just by looking at them. Both received extensive damage; but according to Department of Public Safety troopers, a black Mazda sport utility vehicle and a brown pickup were involved.
The black SUV was heading westbound on FM 70 as the pickup, with four males inside of the vehicle, traveled eastbound. The vehicles collided head on.
Two of the pickup's passengers died on the scene, and the other two were transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital by HALO Flight with critical injuries. The driver of the black Mazda also died on the scene.
"At this time, the crash is still under investigation to determine exactly what happened at this particular scene of the crash," DPS Corporal Charlie Ramirez said.
The families of the victims have not yet been notified, but they believe that the victims may have been from the Valley.
FM 70 was completely shut down for hours.
