Mariachis Serenade New Congressman in Washington

WASHINGTON (Kiii News) -

It was a festive day in Washington on Thursday as one of the newest congressmen in Washington was given a very South Texas welcome.

Mariachis serenaded Congressman Filemon Vela and his family in his office Thursday. Their presence was a gift from fellow Congressman Juan Chuy Hinojosa.

Vela is the new congressman for District 34, which includes Kleberg and Kenedy counties, as well as the Valley.
