High Speed Chase Ends in Arrest of Ten Illegal Immigrants
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A high-speed chase ended when suspects crashed into a fence over the weekend. Ten illegal immigrants were arrested.
It happened at around 4:15 a.m. Saturday when Sheriff's deputies noticed a van driving erratically down Chapman Ranch Road. The van was swerving all over the road, and driving at a high rate of speed.
Deputies tried pulling the van over, but they refused to stop. The chase went on for about two miles, until the van crashed through a fence on a dead end road at the 2500 block of Etring Avenue, near Ayers and Holly.
Deputies estimated that 17 people ran out of the van, and were able to catch 10 of them, all illegal immigrants.
The driver, 38-year old Celsa Sosa Martinez from Mexico, was taken to the Nueces County Jail, were she faces several charges.
The other nine illegal immigrants were detained by the U.S. Border Patrol. They were from Mexico and South America.
