Court Rules that Falfurrias Children Temporarily Remain with CPS

Posted: Updated:
FALFURRIAS (Kiii News) -

Two Falfurrias children at the center of a child abuse case have been ordered to stay in the custody of Child Protective Services for the time being.

That decision was made at a court hearing in Brooks County on Wednesday.

It was last week when we reported that three-month old Christopher Lee Ruiz, Jr., and his two-year old brother, Humberto Villarreal IV, were taken to Driscoll Children's Hospital to be checked out for injuries discovered on their bodies. They have since been under the care of CPS.

Family members believe the mother is responsible for the injuries, but an investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Another court hearing on the status of the children's guardianship will be held March 1.
