HALO Flight Called to Accident Near Callicoatte Road

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

One person had to be sent to the hospital via HALO Flight following an afternoon accident near Callicoatte Road.

The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of FM 1694 and County Road 44.

Police said the driver of a grey Pontiac failed to yield at a stop sign on County Road 44 and collided with a red Dodge Ram traveling southbound on FM 1694. The Dodge flipped over at least once.

"The red Dodge Ram, the driver suffered a big gash to the left side of her head," said James Burdett of the Department of Public Safety. "She was bleeding when we got here. EMS arrived shortly after and they deemed that HALO Flight would have to be called."

The driver of that Dodge is expected to be okay. The driver of the grey Pontiac walked away uninjured, but was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
