CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

An inaugural event is taking place Tuesday, January 15th, to honor Mexican-American civil rights legend, Doctor Hector P. Garcia. Doctor Garcia's daughter, Cecilia Garcia-Akers announces the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Foundation.

Breakfast will be served in the Lone Star Ballroom at TAMUCC from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The university's president, Flavius Killebrew will be among the guest speakers. Mayor Nelda Martinez will present a special proclamation.
