ROBSTOWN (Kiii News) -

Youngsters woke up early this weekend to compete against each other in the 78th annual Nueces County Junior Livestock show, which is currently underway.

Kids ages 9-18 competed in 30 different horse riding events at the Richard Borchard Fairgrounds in Robstown. Also throughout Sunday morning, the students competed in events ranging from halter classes to roping.

One competitor shared her advice on how she gets ready for the big event.

"Everyday I wake up and I go feed my horses, and of course I let them rest for a little while, and then I am just back at it," said Leah Garcia, who compete with her horse Flicka.

Leah said she was inspired by her brother to compete in the events.
