First Ever Crystal Meth Bust in San Diego, Authorities Say
SAN DIEGO (Kiii News) -
The Duval County Sheriff's Office reported finding crystal meth in the city of San Diego, and they say it is a first for that city.
Specifically, 27 baggies of crystal meth were found, with a street value of about $1,500. They also seized drug paraphernalia and a shotgun.
It all happened just before 10 p.m. Sunday. A 28-year old man, Julio Grijalva, is now facing drug and weapons charges.
"I believe it's because we're starting to see more inmates get released from the department of corrections, and I guess this is something new that they're willing to try," Duval County Sheriff Romeo Ramirez said. "A new drug."
Ramirez said one deputy did fire his weapon Sunday night, after hearing what he thought was a gunshot, but no one was injured.
