Demand exceeds supply at gun shop

Posted: Updated:

Some gun shop owners in Southeast Texas are struggling to keep up with the high demand for guns.

Hours following President Obama's proposals for stricter gun control people started heading to gun shops like Lone Star Indoor Gun Range in Lumberton.

The highest selling type of gun was assault rifles. Walls where the high-powered weapons are normally displayed are now completely empty.

"I've had to turn people down because I can't order guns and guns I usually have I don't have anymore because I can't replace them. It's already taken a toll on our sales," Co-owner Brad Bennett said.

Bennett says sales Wednesday were three times higher than on a normal day.

He says everything is on back order and most manufacturers are out of stock because of high demand.

Bennett also has another worry. That he and others like him will have to change careers if any gun control laws pass.
