CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A motorcyclist is recovering after being struck by a sport utility vehicle on Friday.

The Corpus Christi Police Department said a female driver was at a stop sign at the intersection of Dublin Drive and Weber when she pulled out and struck a motorcycle.

The cyclist was thrown to the ground and received a head injury. He was not wearing a helmet.

Police said the woman told them she did not see the motorcyclist.

"Drivers really need to pay attention to motorcycles," CCPD Officer Alan Shelton said. "They blend in the background and they are hard to see."

The man in his late 40s was transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Medical Center. The driver of the SUV was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
