King Soccer Beats Flour Bluff For Second Time in a Week

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The pool play round of the High School Soccer Gulf Coast Classic was a replica of an earlier matchup this week, at least for King and Flour Bluff.

The Mustangs took care of Flour Bluff 3-0 in a pool play match Friday afternoon just three days after they beat the Hornets 6-0 in a non-district match. Sergio Fernandez scored in both games, including the go-ahead and eventual game-deciding goal Friday right before halftime.

The King boys advanced to the Gold Division semifinals where they'll face rival Carroll Saturday at 10:30 am at Cabaniss. The winner of that match will face either Laredo LBJ or Mission in the championship game at 3 pm at Cabaniss.

You have to go to the Silver Division to find the local teams in the girls bracket. King and Carroll will also square off in the girls' edition of the rivalry at 9 am at King. The winner will face either Beeville or Ray at 12:15 pm in the silver championship, also at King High School.
