King Boys Fall to Laredo LBJ in Gulf Coast Classic Soccer Championship

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The King Mustangs soccer team had been on fire all week even before the Gulf Coast Classic, but the Mustangs couldn't ride that to a tournament championship in a 4-3 loss to Laredo LBJ.

The Mustangs fell behind early with King going down 2-0 heading into halftime. King was able to rally with three goals after the break, but it wasn't enough as the Wolves tacked on two more goals to seal the win and the championship.

King knocked off rival Carroll 2-1 in the semifinals earlier in the morning.

Over on the girls' side, you had to go to the silver division to find a local team as Carroll edged Beeville 1-0. The Tiger girls also faced rival King in the semifinals with Carroll also winning that match 1-0.
