
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The Corpus Christi Clutch couldn't ask for a better debut after a late 4th quarter rally lead to a 127-126 win over the Sugar Land Legends in double overtime.
The Clutch rallied from a nine-point deficit with four minutes to go to tie the game at 98 and send it to overtime. Corpus Christi had a chance to win it at the end of regulation, but Anthony Jones lost control of his footing and lost the ball, giving the Legend a last second heave that went long.
The Clutch took at three point lead at 112-109 in overtime after Lanard Donnell's bucket and the foul. However, Sugar Land would pull off a last-minute rally of their own to send it to double overtime.
The final minute of the game was back and forth as Corpus Christi took a 125-123 lead on Tyray Petty's three-pointer. The Legend regained the lead when Greg Foster answered with a three to put Sugar Land on top 126-125.
The Clutch got the go-ahead and eventual game-winning shot from Anthony Jones, who drilled a fade away jumper with 2.6 seconds left on the clock to give Corpus Christi the 127-126 lead. The Clutch knocked the ball away on the inbounds pass to seal the team's first ever victory.
