CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A speeding motorcyclist may lose part of his foot following an accident on Yorktown Tuesday afternoon.

Police said it was just after 12:30 p.m. when the 35-year old motorcyclist collided with the back of a van, which was stopped for traffic on Yorktown and Bay. The motorcyclist was rushed to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital with a very serious injury to his foot.

"Evidently, the motorcycle rider got his foot caught up in the rear spoke of the motorcycle, and it partially amputated part of his foot," said Lt. Tim Brown of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Medics gathered up the pieces and transported them with him over to Memorial where they are going to try to do some reconstructive surgery."

The motorcyclist was cited for traveling at an unsafe speed. The driver of the van was uninjured.
