CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Members of the Islander ROTC were given a lesson on leadership at the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus on Thursday.

"There are certain lines you never cross," said Joe Ramirez, Jr., a retired Brigadier General. "That man was my role model, and I was never going to let that man down. Ever."

Ramirez, who was the guest speaker at Thursday's cadet forum, served in the military for 31 years. He has received many awards, including the Distinguished Service Medal and the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal.

Ramirez told the cadets to never let the people down who are looking to them as a leader.
