Avoiding Long Lines to Take Care of Property Taxes
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
If you own property in Nueces County, the deadline for paying your property taxes without a penalty is Thursday, Jan. 31.
Many local residents were waiting in line at the Nueces County Courthouse on Monday, hoping to take care of their taxes before that deadline, but the County Tax Assessor-Collector's office said, if you want to avoid the long lines, there are some other options.
"Also if people want to mail in their payments and avoid the lines, they can do so," Nueces County Tax Collector Kevin Kieschnick said. "We base the payment date on the postmark by the postal service, so if you get your payment in and it's post marked by January 31, that's the date we're going to process the payment as of."
Kieschnick spent part of the day answering taxpayers' questions to help the process along in hopes of shortening the wait in line.
