Energy Efficient Plan at Nueces County Courthouse Paying Off
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
It appears that being energy efficient is really paying off for the Nueces County Courthouse.
County Judge Loyd Neal held a press conference Wednesday with results of a third-party study into the courthouses energy efficient plan.
The plan began back in 2009 with a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Energy. With the funds, the courthouse partnered with green company Johnson Controls to help implement such changes as reducing the number of light bulbs in over 8,000 light fixtures, and installing solar panels and water conservation devices.
In fifteen years, it is estimated that the courthouse will save nearly $12 million because of their energy efficient plan.
