CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
The Padre Island National Seashore was turned into a makeshift classroom on Thursday as some area second-graders got a lesson in sea turtles.
"I love the beach, and I like to be at the beach," said Adair Bates, a second-grader at St. James Episcopal School. "So I think this is a really, really fun field trip."
"They get excited about learning," said Sheri Brandt, a teacher at St. James Episcopal. "Most of the kids are all about the ocean, especially since we live here."
Brandt's second-grade class received a lesson on turtles and other sea life as part of their study of the ocean. The kids got to pick their favorite sea animal to research and later do a presentation on.
About 10 children in all took part in Thursday's lesson.
