TAMUK Dedication of Virgin of Guadalupe Ground Mural

KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -

Students and faculty of Texas A&M University-Kingsville gathered Monday for the dedication of a religious ground mural in the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

It was the work of some TAMUK art students, along with their professor and professional artist, Santa Barraza.

Barraza and the students have been hard at work on the mural for weeks, through all kinds of weather. The 75 by 40 foot mural was laid out on the concrete of an old parking lot, owned by Harold Hays, a well-known university alumnus and sports star.

Barraza said the intention was to once again do a chalk drawing as an artistic expression of culture and faith.
