(KCEN) -- A phone scam is hitting the Cameron area hard this morning.
The Cameron Police Department has received numerous phone scam calls from citizens in Cameron and the surrounding areas.
Senior citizens are being called and a sales pitch is given to them, which results in the senior citizens giving out their social security numbers and bank information.
The police would like the public to know this is probably a scam and wants to remind them to never give out this personal information over the phone. Anyone who gives out this information is risking their bank values and security.
Right now, it seems the 697 prefix is being targeted.
