Kingsville ISD Board Member Indicted for Indecency with Child

KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Kingsville Independent School District board member and well known Kingsville business owner who has been indicted.

A grand jury indicted Rudy Macareno on two counts, indecency with a child and aggravated sexual assault, late Thursday afternoon. Plenty of folks, including those closest to Macareno, were apparently unaware of the news.

That was certainly the case at the offices of the Kingsville ISD. Assistant Superintendent Karen Griffith said that she was not aware that Macareno had been indicted, and that it was the first she was hearing about it.

Macareno himself was nowhere to be found at either of his businesses in Kingsville, Pure Platinum Gym or Macareno Signs, which is right across from Kleberg Elementary School.

Even Macareno's wife, Myra, had not heard about it.

Kingsville ISD officials said Macareno has been a school board trustee since May of 2012, when he was elected. District Court Judge Angelica Hernandez has set bond on count one at $50,000, and on count two at $175,000.
