BEAUMONT -

Lamar University Softball Coach Holly Bruder tells 12News that all four players involved in an accident Tuesday night received only minor injuries.

The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. The single-vehicle accident happened as the team members were returning from Taste of the Triangle.

Beaumont Police Officer Rob Flores told 12News the 18-year-old driver of the 2012 Jeep Liberty lost control of the vehicle on the Cardinal Drive service road near Highland Avenue.  The driver said the Jeep hit a pothole causing her to lose control.  She overcorrected and the Jeep flipped several times ejecting one of the passengers.

The person who was ejected, an 18-year-old female, was taken to the hospital and treated for what is described as "bumps and bruises."   An officer on the scene said the player who was ejected was not wearing a seatbelt.

The other three passengers were wearing their seat belts. They were checked out at the hospital as a precaution.

The driver was given a citation for failure to control speed.
