(KCEN) A 14-year-old tradition takes over the steps of the McLennan County Courthouse Thursday.
Nine couples married or renewed their vows during the Valentines Day Mass Wedding in Waco.
This year, retired Justice of the Peace William Martin handed over his red jacket, which he wore every year, to new Justice of the Peace Pete Peterson.
Martin started the tradition the first year he was sworn into office in 1999.
After learning one couple came to Thursday's ceremony to renew their vows in what they called, "A Waco tradition" Martin said, "It's really emotional. I never thought I would have that kind of an impact on people."
