Arrest Made in Connection to Stabbing Homicide in Flour Bluff

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

It was this past Tuesday night when a 24-year old man was stabbed to death in Flour Bluff after confronting a man that had allegedly robbed him.

The accused suspect, a local cook for a homeless center, was taken into custody. U.S. Marshals arrested 47-year old Mark Baker as he showed up for work at Timon's Ministries.

Friends of Baker said his arrest comes as a surprise. They called him a nice guy and a good cook.

"I can understand people getting mad. Everybody gets mad, but as far as him going that far, I doubt it," said Elvis Deucher, a volunteer at Timon's Ministries.

Baker is accused of stabbing 24-year old Samuel Moore off of Waldron Road and Fawn Drive after the two got into a fight. Police said Moore accused Baker of robbing him earlier Tuesday evening.

The suspect, known as Marky Mark to those who knew him, worked at Timon's for the last two or three years as a cook. As a result of his arrest, people who showed up looking for a meal on Thursday found the doors locked, and a sign letting them know the center was closed.

Kaye Berry, the executive director at Timon's, said Baker was a good employee, a hard worker and that everyone enjoyed being around him. That is why his arrest comes as such a shock.

Berry also said that Timon's will be back open on Friday.
