CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A man and a woman are in custody after leading police on a high speed pursuit that started in Portland and came to a crashing end here in Corpus Christi Thursday.

The driver crashed into a fire hydrant at Gollihar and Moravian.

Police said it all began with a routine traffic stop in Portland. The driver then took off, throwing a shotgun from the vehicle along the causeway as he made his way into Corpus Christi. The Corpus Christi Police Department eventually took part in the pursuit, along with Portland police, but things began to get dangerous and they terminated the pursuit.

Once the driver crashed into the fire hydrant, he and his female passenger took off on foot, but were quickly rounded up by police. They are now facing a slew of charges, including evading.
