Baylor Students Make Their Own Version of The Harlem Shake

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- It's the new viral dance craze sweeping the nation, the Harlem Shake.

There have been thousands of videos posted on the Internet and the latest one is being shot here in central Texas.

It all began last May when the song was released by 23-year-old producer Baauer.

But the song didn't go viral until February 2 when a 19-year-old college student posted a video of himself and friends dancing to the video.

The concept is simple. The videos are about 30 seconds long. One person starts dancing by themselves, then when the bass line drops everyone goes wild.

Now other schools have made videos including the University of Texas and Texas A&M.

But Baylor students are convinced their version is going to top all of those.

Baylor student Krispenella Chrlynski said, "Baylor is just really awesome, trying to be unique."

Another student, Rudy Tchao, said, "This was completely organized .... Get together have fun."

Many of the performers wore face masks or helmets, strange costumes and fancy dresses.

There's commonly someone dancing in their underwear in the videos.

Unlike Gangnam Style, there are no specific dance moves, so you can do whatever you want.
