Corpus Christi (kiii sports) - UT Pan American scored three runs in the first inning in route to a 7-1 win that spoiled Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's season-opener at Chapman Field.

The Islanders were held in check by native Australian Sam Street, who scattered 6 hits in 8 strong innings on the mound.

The 4-game series resumes with a doubleheader on Saturday.
