Gospel Music at St. John's to Celebrate Black History

An explosion of gospel music filled the halls of St. John's Baptist Church on Sunday night.

The Houston Mass Choir joined St. John's to celebrate black history and to honor several local musicians and their contributions over the year. One of those honorees was Willie Miller, who has been the choir director at St. John's since he was just 12 years old.

"Gospel music brings people together," Miller said. "Once you hear the true gospel music, people enjoy the fellowship and the spirit of the music. So it's for all races and all kinds of people, red, yellow, black or white. Everybody gets the enthusiasm when the song and the praise and the fellowship of the songs."

Kiii News First Edition Anchor Jane Monreal was the emcee at that celebration.
