On Tuesday, Feb. 26, Kiii-TV is hosting a Day of Caring for CCISD students and teachers, encouraging online donations to give our students hands-on, interactive and world class learning experiences through funding these grant programs via the Corpus Christi Education Foundation.
Donations can be made by visiting the Education Foundation's website at www.ccef-ccisd.org/donations.
The Corpus Christi Education Foundation serves and supports CCISD students and educators by funding innovative educational grant programs, offering scholarships to CCISD students and recognizing outstanding teachers. Each year, the Foundation awards grants to fund materials for creative teaching ideas that are not otherwise able to be funded by the school district. If it were not for the help of the Foundation grants, teachers would have to fund these programs out of their own pockets or, more likely, not provide the program(s) at all.
Past grant programs have consisted of these funding opportunities and more:
- A six-week science program at Cunningham Middle School, in which students used GPS navigation to track animal migration patterns at various locations throughout the city.
- The establishment of an after school garden science lab at Club Estates Elementary, where students meet weekly to work in the gardens, harvest vegetables and flowers and study the parts of plants and plant development in lab.
- Funding for an EKG machine to support students seeking certification and career development opportunities through the Health Science Academy at Moody High School.
