Forbes Lists Corpus Christi in Top 10 Recovering Housing Markets
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Local residential home sales in 2012 were up nearly 17-percent over the previous year, and that has landed Corpus Christi on a new national list.
Forbes Magazine listed Corpus Christi among the top 10 outperforming cities during the current housing recovery. It was ranked ninth out of 146 cities nationwide.
Forbes also noted that the average price of a home here went up significantly.
"It's a very good situation for sellers, but I think it's also a very good time for buyers because your interest rates are so low," said Karen King, elected chair of the Corpus Christi Association of Realtors. "It is a time that I think can benefit both buyers and sellers."
King said sales haven't been this good since 2007.
The median sales price of a home sold in the Coastal Bend has gone up by more than 5.5-percent from 2011 prices.
