Christus Spohn Makes Donation to Corpus Christi Fire Department
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
With technology ever changing, it is important to keep up with the times. This is especially true when it comes to medical technology.
That is why Christus Spohn made a sizable donation of $134,000 to the Corpus Christi Fire Department on Monday.
The money will be used by the CCFD to purchase five new defibrillators. With the new defibrillators, EMTs can actually send an EKG from the field to the hospital, meaning doctors and nurses can make decisions well before the patient even arrives.
"By providing this technology, we know we provide residents precious minutes they need if they're having a heart attack," said Paul Gaden of Christus Spohn.
"It's live. It works, and we think it's going to save lives," CCFD Chief Robert Rocha said.
With Monday's donation, along with a donation received earlier this year, the fire department will be able to equip all nine of their ambulances with the new defibrillators.
