Students Taken To Hospital After Ingesting Prescription Pills at School
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
Seven Hamilin Middle School students got a quick ride to Driscoll Children's Hospital Wednesday after school administrators say they took prescription pills that they got from another student.
This happened just before the end of the school day when a student appeared to be very sleepy.
That student was sent to the nurse's office.
Administrators say the drug was prescribed for the student as a sleep aid.
"Someone passed out drugs at school. Some kids took them, tripping in the class, principal asked if they took anything they said yes," 8th grader Jose Romero said. "A couple of them fainted in the hallway."
Administrators say as a matter of procedure they sent out an automatic phone message to parents, listing the symptoms that they should look for.
It appears only seven students were involved and they were sent to Driscoll only as a precaution.
