KLEBERG COUNTY (Kiii News) -

Law enforcement officers are looking for a person who stole a Chevy Tahoe, took it for a joy ride and then torched it overnight.

The Tahoe was stolen from the 400 block of Pleiades out in Flour Bluff at around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters responded to the burning vehicle at around 6:30 a.m. and confirmed it was the stolen vehicle. It was found two miles south of the county line, past Bob Hall Pier.

The fire was so intense, it melted away almost all of the identifying markers on the 2007 sport utility vehicle. Investigators from Kleberg County had a difficult time trying to find its VIN number.
