Suspected Illegal Immigrants Get Away After Short Pursuit

BISHOP (Kiii News) -

It's becoming all too familiar here in the Coastal Bend. Precinct 3 Constables in Bishop were involved in yet another suspected illegal immigrant pursuit ending in a bailout.

Constables said that, around lunch time, they got into a pursuit with a red Ford truck that may have had eight illegal immigrants inside it on FM 70. After a short chase, the truck ended up on County Road 37-B, near King Ranch. Everyone inside the truck bailed out and fled on foot toward the ranch.

That is where they had to call off the foot chase.

"Lately, we have seen an influx of these kinds of incidents," Chief Deputy Margarito Gonzalez said. "I don't have the numbers right now, but there has been an influx. There are less with the heat. Right now, it is a little cooler. They feel a little more comfortable traveling."

After the foot chase was called off, the U.S. Border Patrol was called in to assist in the search. As of 5 p.m., none of the suspected illegal immigrants have been caught.
